• The comfort of an old hotel cannot be hidden at all

  Before coming to Shanghai, I stumbled upon a hotel in Xujiahui and ultimately booked Jianguo Hotel Shanghai with the intention of giving it a try. Originally, I only wanted it to be close to the subway and convenient to various business districts, but I didn't expect to add it directly to my 'permanent list' for coming to Shanghai after staying.
  I checked in on Friday evening and thought I would have to wait for a long time during peak hours. However, the receptionist at the front desk took only two to three minutes to complete the procedures. She even reminded me that there are often markets in the surrounding area in the evening, and provided me with a printed walking route map. She even clearly marked which nearby pan fried restaurant opened until 10 o'clock. This kind of thoughtfulness is unmatched by many new hotels.
  The room doesn't have the old feeling of the old hotel at all. The beige wall is equipped with light brown soft bags.   Breakfast is the biggest motivation for me to get up early every day. It is not the fancy self-help, but the real Shanghai flavor: the small Wonton is full of scallions, the rice cake is crunchy, and even soybean milk is fresh and mellow. The aunt next to me even talked to me, saying that she has lived here for more than ten years, and whenever relatives come to her home, her first choice is definitely Jianguo Hotel, and the taste has never changed.
  The most amazing thing is its location. You can walk 5 minutes to Xujiahui subway station, take Line 1, 9 and 11 casually, go to Wukang Road to visit the old western-style houses, go to Hengshan Road to drink coffee, and go to Yu Garden to see the night view. You can get there in half an hour. If you don't want to run far, go downstairs and turn around to Xujiahui Park.   After staying for three days, I didn't rush to check in at the scenic spots, but instead felt the most down-to-earth temperature in Shanghai in the slow pace of Jianguo Hotel.
